Leona Johnston of Fountain Hills, Ariz., has been a member of the
NFRW Board of Directors since her appointment to the Outreach
Committee in 2004. She has been chairman since 2006. As
Diversity/Outreach Chairman for the Arizona FRW, Johnston was
involved at the state level in many diversity/outreach projects. She
served as secretary of the Navajo Code Talker Memorial Foundation.
She is a charter member of the Latino Republican Association, a
member of the Republican Jewish Coalition and the Black Republican
Association, and has participated in events in the Korean-American
and Chinese-American communities.
As 1st Vice-President of the Arizona FRW, Johnston is in charge of
programs. She served two years as 2nd Vice-President in charge of
membership. She is a precinct committeeman and a state committeeman,
and belongs to several Republican clubs in the Phoenix area, serving
on boards of directors as a political education chairman, awards
chairman, and publicity chairman. She also serves on the advisory
board for the Dodie Londen Excellence in Leadership Series, a
mentoring program for women interested in becoming involved in GOP
politics.
