Jan Schar has been a Federation member since 1974. She served as
her Club’s President for four terms. She served on the Board of the
Virginia Federation as Public Relations Chairman, Finance Chairman,
2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President, and than as State President.
Jan served on the NFRW Board from 1996 until 2006 as a State
President, Chairman of the Resolutions Committee, Chairman of the
House Committee, and Chairman of the Business Woman’s Committee.
She has participated in many political campaigns, local, state, and
national. She served 28 years on the Fairfax County Republican
Committee, and was a member of the Republican Party of Virginia
State Central Executive Committee. She worked in the White House
Office of Public Liaison from 1989 until 1992 and Co-chaired the
Office of Volunteers for Bush-Cheney following their first election.
Jan’s civic commitments include; Board of Virginia 10th District
Congressional Awards Program, Board of McLean Projects for the Arts,
Board of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Board of the Wolf Trap
Associates, Northern Virginia Hospice Board, Women’s Center of
Northern Virginia Board, Fairfax Hospital Center for Women and
Children’s Board, American Heart Association Fundraising, American
Cancer Association Fundraising, Board of the New York Avenue
Foundation of Washington D.C., and the Board of the Thirteenth
Street Adult Mental Health Center.
