Sara serves as Republican State Executive Committeewoman and is a member of the Republican National Committee Presidents Club and the Senatorial Inner Circle. She served as an alternate delegate to the Republican conventions in Houston, Philadelphia and New York.
Within the Tennessee FRW, Sara serves as Regents chair. She also has served as first vice president, area vice president for the 1st district, and as president, vice president and treasurer of Carter County RW.
Sara served as Carter County chair to elect Fred Thompson, Don Sundquist, Bush-Cheney, Lamar Alexander, Bill Frist and Bob Corker. She was co-chair of Veterans for Bush 2000 and 2004.
Sara is chair emeritus of the Tennessee Commission on National and Community Service, is an active member of Elizabethton Lions Club, and is an active advocate for veterans, the homeless and children. She serves on the board of directors of Shepherds Inn Battered Women's Shelter, and Resource Ministries. She is a member of the Carter County War Memorial Committee and is a lifetime member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America, and Korean Veterans.
Sara was presented the Republican Senatorial American Spirit Medal by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole and was honored and featured on television as a "Hometown Hero." Her most rewarding achievement was working for passage of HR2396 and S2157 in the U.S. House and Senate to "Honor Our Fallen POWs with the Purple Heart." The legislation was signed by President Bush.
