Kathy Brugger was elected NFRW 2nd vice president at the 36th Biennial Convention in Kansas City and took office in January 2012. She is the director of NFRW Region 4, which includes Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
Previously, Brugger served as NFRW member-at-large, adviser to the NFRW Regents Program and director of NFRW Region 1. She has been a Capitol Regent since 2000 and served on the NFRW Nominating Committee in 2005.
Brugger is a past president of the California FRW and a
long-time Republican activist at the local, county, division and
state levels. She has served as a California Republican Party
Central Committee delegate and a Golden Leadership member.
For more than 30 years, Brugger has served as an elected school
board member, and she also is appointed to the board of the
California State Teachers Retirement System, the second largest
pension fund in the U.S. Brugger is a community member of Assistance
League and a life member of the American Association of University
Women. She is past president of the Montclair Chamber of Commerce
and numerous community organizations. She is an honorary member of
Delta Kappa Gamma, Theta Phi chapter.
Honors include: California Republican Party Chairman’s Leadership
Award, 2008; California Republican Party Electoral College, 2008;
Woman of Distinction for Assemblyman Bill Emmerson, 2005; Chaffey
Community College Alumni of the Year, 2002; and, California
Republican Party CFRW Volunteer of the Year, 2001.
Brugger has been married to husband, John, for 43 years. They have
three adult children and 10 grandchildren. Brugger is a serious
businesswoman who works alongside her husband in their construction
business.
She says she is a “worker bee for Republican causes.”
