Brenda R. Smith was elected NFRW treasurer at the 35th Biennial Convention in Orlando and took office in January 2010. After completing two terms as president of the Kansas FRW, she sought the office of treasurer because she wanted to continue to be involved at a higher level of Republican Women. It had also been many years since a Kansas FRW member had been on the NFRW Executive Committee.

Smith said, “I look forward to working with the states in my region and serving with a leadership team that will work hard to elect Republicans.”

In addition to serving the Saline County RW as president three times, Smith served as fundraising chair for Kansas FRW during the presidencies of Alberta Brinkman and Barbara Wells. She also served as second vice president and first vice president before being elected president in 2006 and again in 2008.

In addition to her Federation activities, Smith serves as past president of Altrusa International of Salina, District Eight Altrusa secretary, and member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. She is also an active volunteer for the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, board member of United Cerebral Palsy of Kansas and tri-chair of the NJCAA Women's National Basketball Tournament held in Salina each March.
