Jan Kennady, RPRP, has served as the NFRW
parliamentarian for four terms and previously served as chairman of
the NFRW Bylaws Committee. Active in the Republican Party for more
than 35 years, she served as president of the Texas FRW for four
years beginning in 1998 and has been a devoted member of the New
Braunfels RW since 1980. She was a delegate to the 2000 Republican
National Convention and was State Republican Party Nominating
Committee chairman in 2002.
Kennady became a professional registered parliamentarian in 1993,
and recently requested retired status since she does not charge for
her services. She is a past officer of the Texas State Association
of Parliamentarians. She has conducted parliamentary law seminars in
several states and served as parliamentarian for numerous
organizations.
Kennady has been an officer in more than 25 civic, charitable,
political and cultural organizations and has served as president of
14 non-profit groups, including the Texas Academy of Family
Physicians Auxiliary and the Texas Women’s Education Foundation.
Her community service has earned several awards, including the New
Braunfels Citizen of the Year, Chamber of Commerce President’s
Award, Princess of the City Award, Community Builder Award, Best
Comal County Government Official, Women of Distinction Award, “Hats
Off” Award from the Associated Republicans of Texas, and the “Silver
Spur” Award from the Young Republicans of Texas.
Kennady was appointed by Gov. George W. Bush in 1998 to serve on the
Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. Gov. Rick
Perry has appointed her to two six-year terms to service on the
Board of the Texas County and District Retirement System, beginning
in 2004. She was elected to the New Braunfels City Council in 1993,
and completed a term as mayor in 1999. She is currently serving her
third term as Comal County Commissioner, Precinct 4.
