Sara Jo Odom was elected NFRW secretary at the 36th Biennial Convention in Kansas City and took office in January 2012. She is the director of NFRW Region 9, which includes Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Previously, Odom served as chairman of the NFRW Legislative Committee. She also has served on the NFRW Leadership, Caring for America, and Headquarters Trust committees. In 2010, she was chairman of the Oklahoma FRW committee which hosted the NFRW Spring Board Meeting in Oklahoma City.
Odom joined the Oklahoma City RW in 1999, served as president from 2004-2005, and was elected president of the Oklahoma FRW for 2006-2007. Her other political activities include serving as vice chairman of the Oklahoma County Republican Party and on the state GOP executive committee.
Odom, who describes herself as very conservative and passionate about politics, was born and raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in political science. She lived outside of Oklahoma for 30 years before returning to her beloved state in 1997. She spent 20 years as an insurance investigator/adjuster, and wrote and published a "how-to" book for insurance claims, "Keep Insurance Settlements Simple: What Lawyers Don't Want You To Know."
She has been involved in dozens of charitable and service organizations, including Rotary International, Salvation Army Auxiliary and Northwest Classen Alumni Association. She is the president of the Oklahoma chapter of Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge and a board member of Oklahoma Eagle Forum. She served as president of the Chamber of Commerce in Londonderry, N.H., where she lived for 25 years.
Odom has three children and six grandchildren.
