Betty Poe was elected NFRW 3rd vice president at the 36th Biennial Convention in Kansas City and took office in January 2012. She is the director of NFRW Region 8, which includes New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia.
Previously, Poe served as president and 1st vice president of the South Carolina FRW and was selected as SCFRW's Republican Woman of the Year at the biennial state convention in 2007. She also has served as vice chair of the NFRW Fundraising Committee and as an NFRW board member. In 2006-2007, she served as president of Greenville County RW, the largest club in the state. Previously, she served as first vice president.
In 2011, Poe was elected chair of the Greenville County Republican Party. Previously, she served as first vice chair and second vice chair. She also served on the South Carolina Republican Party Resolutions Committee for 2011, was an elected member of the Electoral College for 2008, and received the James B. Edwards Award for service to the state party.
Poe served as chair of the Greenville County Victory 2006 campaign to get out the vote for Republican candidates. Despite Republican losses throughout the country, all Republican candidates for constitutional offices in South Carolina were elected except one.
A retired insurance executive, Poe is the co-chair of the Capital Campaign at Clemson University and serves on the Foundation Board at Clemson, following in the footsteps of her husband Billy’s commitment to his alma mater. One of her passions is donating time as volunteer coordinator in the Infusion Room of the Chemotherapy Department at the Cancer Center of the Carolinas. She serves on numerous other boards and is active in her church and community.
