Kay VanSant

Kay VanSant was elected NFRW 3rd vice president at the 37th Biennial Convention in Louisville, Ky., and took office in January 2014. She is the director of NFRW Region 9, which includes Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

VanSant is very active in the National Federation of Republican Women, the Alabama Federation, the Alabama Republican Party, and her community.

For the NFRW, she previously served as chair of the Leadership Development, Legislative and Advocacy committees, and as vice chair of the Membership, Public Relations, and Leadership Development committees. She organized and chaired the first two Legislative Days on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., and is an NFRW Regent.

In the Alabama Federation, VanSant is 2nd vice president, and has also served as 4th vice president and as the chair of the Leadership Development, Legislative, and Legislative Days committees. She is president of Cherokee County Republican Women in Centre. VanSant is a past state president of the Arizona Federation. While in Arizona, she served twice in each of the following offices: Region VIII director, treasurer, and chair of the Arizona Federation state convention.

VanSant serves on the Executive Committee for the Alabama Republican Party, and is secretary of the Cherokee County Republican Executive Committee.

She is a member of Assistance League, and is very active in her church, where she is on the administrative board and the finance committee, and recently completed a term as lay leader. She is the immediate past president of her local unit of United Methodist Women, and is the secretary of Cheaha District United Methodist Women.

VanSant graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in education. In addition to teaching, she was the medical affairs director of the American Cancer Society. She is married to a retired physician and has one daughter, a granddaughter and two grandsons. Her hobbies are travel, music, art, bridge, the preservation of antique wooden carousels, and POLITICS!
