Elizabeth Farrington of Hawaii
President, 1949-53

Farrington was the first president to spend significant time in Washington, D.C., and thereby assumed an active role in the day-to-day operations of the office and staff. She helped establish the School of Politics and the Washington Newsletter. Later, she became Hawaii's delegate to the U.S. Congress.
