Marilyn Thayer of Louisiana
Thayer instituted a get-out-the-vote initiative that involved clubs across the country and made a substantial difference in the 1996 elections. In addition, a campaign-related media event carried out on the steps of the U.S. Capitol gained significant news coverage for the NFRW, including an article on the front page of the New York Times. Also, the Betty Rendel Scholarship and the NFRW web site were launched during Thayer's term.
