On February 9, the Metro Republican Women, part of the Minnesota Federation of Republican Women, held their 15th annual Lincoln Day Tea. This is a high tea held to honor our 16th President and in special memory of Ida Van Stone, former member of Metro Republican Women and lifelong Republican activist. This is always held in February on the Saturday closest to President Lincoln’s Birthday on February 12.

A high tea with all the beautiful accompaniments was served. The special china tea cups and pots were supplied by the members. A short reflection of President Lincoln was given by past MRW president, Deb Kaczmarek.

The featured speaker was Annette Meeks. She was former deputy chief of staff for House Speaker Newt Gingrich and is presently founder and CEO of the Freedom Foundation, an independent, non-profit, education and research organization. Annette spoke on “Why Elections Matter” She gave very good insight into what happened in the last election and why it is so important that we continue to support President Trump and all Republican candidates in 2020.

The elegant high tea is one of the many programs held throughout the year by Metro Republican Women. Some of the other programs are Mother-Daughter brunch in May, Family Picnic in July, and regular monthly meetings.
