Lowndes County Republican Women Respond

2019 has been the "year of the soldier" for Lowndes County Republican Women.  Each time we stand and repeat the Pledge of Allgiance to our beautiful flag, we are reminded that many have sacrificed for just such freedom as this.  President Trump has proven to be a champion of the military and likewise, we want to do our part.  The Soldiers' Angels conduct several projects throughout the year.  Our first joint project with them was "Warm Feet for Our Warriors."  New socks were to be collected and sent to the dispersal center located in San Antonio where they would be sent to the deployed, and VA facilities.  One of the top soldier request is for clean socks.  The thought of a new pair of socks does not mean much to us but to a deployed soldier, it means alot.  When a vet gets a pair, he/she knows he/she have not been forgotten.  A simple gesture that is priceless! Our club began gathering socks in April and at our May meeting, we had collected 240 pairs of socks.  We had 100 percent participation...a first for us!  Our literacy project will be conducted at Columbus Air Force Library in Columbus, Mississippi.  We will share that in October.  Our next joint project with Soldiers' Angels will be Christmas stockings for our military.  You do not have to be wealthy to touch the life of a soldier.  You just have to be thankful and willing to do what you can do.  Shouldn't all Americans be thankful and willing? God bless our military, our President and the United States of America.
