ALEXANDRIA, Va. – A New Jersey student has been selected to participate in a summer internship program with the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), one of largest women's political organizations in the nation.
Raychel Renna, a native of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, has been awarded the Dorothy Andrews Kabis Memorial Internship, which gives young women the opportunity to spend part of the summer at NFRW headquarters in Alexandria, Va.
Raychel is majoring in political science at Syracuse University in New York and is set to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in May 2017. In addition, she is studying public communications at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She was recently tapped as communications director for the Syracuse College Republicans, is the former public relations director for a campus dance organization, and has served as an intern for Masterpiece Advertising in Atlantic City and for Congressman Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ).
“I hope to combine my passion for politics and my skills in communicating messages by working on campaigns that help elect Republican candidates, particularly female candidates, that preserve and promote conservative values,” Renna said.
Awarded annually, the internship is named for the former president of the NFRW who was later appointed U.S. treasurer by President Richard Nixon. Read more about this internship.
Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
