National Federation of Republican Women Shows
Support For U.S. Troops During Visit to Capitol Hill
WASHINGTON,
D.C. – During its spring board of directors meeting, the
National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) visited the U.S.
Capitol to meet with legislators, attend committee hearings and
show support for U.S. troops serving overseas.
More than 260 Republican women activists
from across the country attended the board meeting, which was
held in Washington, D.C., March 28-31.
On Capitol Hill, the group was briefed by
dozens of Republican senators and representatives; met with Doro
Bush Koch, sister of President George W. Bush; and, advocated
for President Bush’s plan for victory in Iraq.
“Republican women went to Capitol Hill to
make it clear: we support our President, and most of all, we
support our troops,” NFRW President Beverly Davis said. “The
NFRW strongly endorses the President’s call for troops to be
fully funded, with no strings attached to commanders on the
ground and no arbitrary deadlines for withdrawal.”
The board meeting also featured speeches by
Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of
Representatives and possible Republican candidate for U.S.
president, and Rich Galen, publisher of Mullings.Com and former
press aide to Newt Gingrich and Dan Quayle.
Founded in 1938, the NFRW is one of the
largest women’s political organizations in the country with
nearly 100,000 members. The grassroots organization recruits and
elects Republican candidates, advocates the Party’s philosophy
and initiatives, and empowers women in the political process.
