Comments on Obama's 'State of Union'
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Following President Barack Obama’s
first State of the Union address, National Federation of
Republican Women President Sue Lynch said:
"Last night, the President had a genuine
opportunity to communicate with the American people and to show
leadership on the tough issues facing our country. Instead, he
resorted to using the same partisan rhetoric to explain his
administration’s undeniable lack of progress in revitalizing the
economy and creating jobs for Americans.
"We congratulate Governor Bob McDonnell on
his excellent response, which discussed the role of good
government policy in spurring economic growth and strengthening
the private sector by enabling American innovation and
entrepreneurship to create new jobs. The Governor also
questioned the administration's handling of suspected terrorists
and emphasized the need to put the protection of U.S. citizens
first.
"President Obama claims he is looking for
new ideas to solve problems. The National Federation of
Republican Women hopes he will start listening to common sense
ideas, such as those Governor McDonnell articulated."
