National
Federation of Republican Women Denounces
Emily’s List Attack on Republican Women Candidates
Republican Women Will Give
Women New Voice in Washington, Lynch Says
ALEXANDRIA, Va.
–
Sue Lynch, president of the National Federation of
Republican Women (NFRW), issued this statement in response to
Emily’s List’s recent attack on Sarah Palin and the Republican
women candidates she has endorsed:
“The NFRW is disappointed that Emily’s
List has resorted to attacking Republican women candidates who
have emerged to give women across the United States a new
voice in the national arena. It is unfortunate that in a
desperate political move, Emily’s List would call fellow women
candidates ‘reactionary and backward-looking.’
“We hope this pathetic name-calling will
rally women from across the United States to stand up and show
Emily’s List and Nancy Pelosi who they want representing them
in Washington. Our slate of Republican women candidates are
local and state leaders who are willing to take sound
leadership to Washington. I applaud this talented group of
women who are running to enact real change in November.”
Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of
active members in local clubs across the nation and in several
U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political
organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works
to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican
Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through
political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness
of women in the cause of good government.
