to Kick Off 2012 Campaign Season at Fall Convention

Event to Feature GOP Presidential Candidates, Straw Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) will welcome several Republican presidential candidates as speakers to the 36th Biennial Convention at the Kansas City Convention Center on Oct. 1 and 2.

More than 1,500 Republican women leaders from across the nation will gather to hear from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, and businessman Herman Cain, all Republican candidates for U.S. president in 2012. The NFRW also invited Michele Bachmann, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Rick Perry and Mitt Romney to address the convention, but these presidential candidates are not confirmed as speakers.

Each convention registrant will be allowed to cast one vote in the NFRW Presidential Straw Poll, which will feature nine  Republican presidential candidates. The straw poll will be conducted on Oct. 1 by Palladian View of Spartanburg, S.C. Results will be announced publicly Oct. 2. For more information about the straw poll, visit

The convention is one of the largest Republican gatherings this year and the NFRW’s official kick-off of the 2012 political season. Other speakers include U.S. Congresswomen Jo Ann Emerson, Vicky Hartzler, and Lynn Jenkins; Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, and Puerto Rico Gov.
