National Federation of Republican Women Elects
Arizona Republican Leader Next President

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Delegates to the 36th biennial convention of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) elected Arizona Republican leader Rae Lynne Chornenky to head the organization during 2012 and 2013. The election was held Oct. 2 in Kansas City, Mo.

Chornenky currently serves as first vice president of the organization, and has held several other positions on the NFRW executive committee and board of directors. In 2000 and 2001, she served as president of the Arizona Federation of Republican Women.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead the NFRW during such a pivotal election year,” Chornenky said. “Following this convention, our women are energized and ready to send Obama and the Democrats packing in next year’s elections. Our programs and efforts will be focused on ensuring we take back the White House and the U.S. Senate, and maintain our Republican majorities in the U.S. House and state governments across the nation.”

A native of Phoenix, Chornenky has practiced law for more than 28 years. After retiring from the superior court bench in 1995, she served as a legislative attorney for an Arizona cabinet-level agency where she drafted extensive legislation and successfully lobbied state budget issues, laws and regulatory acts.

She also served as an adjunct professor of constitutional law, substantive criminal law and evidence. Her private legal practice has included advising non-profit organizations, representing political candidates and campaign organizations, coordinating seminars and workshops, speaking on constitutional and political issues, and defending individuals charged with crimes.

Also elected to the NFRW Executive Committee were:

1st Vice President – Jessie Morton of Louisiana
2nd Vice President – Kathy Brugger of California
3rd Vice President – Betty Poe of South Carolina
4th Vice President – Lisa Roper of Texas
Secretary – Sara Jo Odom  of Oklahoma
Treasurer – Carrie Almond of Missouri
Members-at-Large – Carol Salmon of Ohio, Martha Jenkins of North Carolina,
and Eileen Sobjack of Washington

Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in several U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
