National Federation of Republican Women Supports
Senate Amendment Reversing Contraception Mandate

Rae Lynne Chornenky, President of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW), issued the following statement regarding the Republican-backed amendment in the U.S. Senate that would reverse President Obama's recent mandate that all employers provide contraception coverage for employees.

"The National Federation of Republican Women applauds Republicans in the U.S. Senate for taking quick and decisive action to reverse President Obama's overreaching contraception mandate," Chornenky said. "For political reasons, Democrats have contrived to turn this into a women's health issue by scaring women into believing that Republicans want to outlaw contraception. Nothing could be further from the truth. Republicans do not oppose contraception. We oppose an administration that ignores the First Amendment and bullies religious organizations into violating the tenets of their faith."

Chornenky is available to the media for additional comment on this issue. Contact Lisa Ziriax, NFRW communications director, at 405-596-3873 or

Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in several U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
