National Federation of Republican Women
Urges Akin to Drop Out of Missouri Senate Race
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Rae Lynne Chornenky,
president of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW),
issued the following statement regarding recent comments made by Missouri senatorial candidate Todd Akin.
"The recent comments made by Missouri senatorial candidate Todd Akin about 'legitimate rape' and pregnancy are not only completely inaccurate, but are also extremely insensitive and offensive to women, and frankly, to all Americans. What's more, his comments are not in keeping with the Republican Party's values and principles. Therefore, the National Federation of Republican Women is urging Mr. Akin to do the right thing and remove himself from the race immediately."
Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of
active members in local clubs across the nation and in several
U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political
organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works
to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican
Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through
political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness
of women in the cause of good government.
