National Federation of Republican Women Elects
California Republican Leader Next President

Delegates Deliver Unanimous Vote at Convention

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Delegates to the 37th biennial convention of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) unanimously elected California Republican leader Kathy Brugger to head the organization during 2014 and 2015. The election was held Sept. 21 in Louisville, Ky.

Brugger currently serves as second vice president of the organization, and has held several other positions on the NFRW Executive Committee and Board of Directors. She also served as president of the California Federation of Republican Women in 2008 and 2009.

“I am honored that the members have selected me to guide this organization during next year’s critical midterm elections,” Brugger said. “The NFRW will lead the way in demonstrating that women are the ‘life of the party.’ We will be out in force, helping to elect Republican candidates and communicating our message of economic opportunity and limited government.”

Describing herself as a “worker bee for Republican causes,” Brugger has been a long-time party activist at the local, state and national levels. For more than 30 years, she has served as an elected school board member, and she also was appointed to the board of the California State Teachers Retirement System, the second largest pension fund in the U.S.

Brugger has received numerous awards for her work, including the 2008 California Republican Party Chairman’s Leadership Award and the 2001 California Republican Party CFRW Volunteer of the Year Award. In 2008, she served in the California Republican Party Electoral College. Founded in 1938, the NFRW has thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in several U.S. territories, making it one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country. The grassroots organization works to promote the principles and objectives of the Republican Party, elect Republican candidates, inform the public through political education and activity, and increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
