ADVOCACY PLAN - TOWN HALL MEETINGS
Get your local club or state federation involved in the education
process by hosting a No Child Left Behind Town Hall Meeting!
√
Set a
date for the event following the beginning of school.
√
Invite
your
Department of Education Regional Representative
to participate.
√
Open
your event to the general public and especially encourage teachers
and education officials to join in.
√
The
goal is to emphasize the positives of NCLB and to help dispel the
myths.
√
Send
out news releases. Post flyers in public areas and at local
schools.
√
Get
the word out by utilizing free media through Public Service
Announcements (PSAs).
√
Keep
the speaking portion brief to allow plenty of time for questions and
answers.
√
Remember
that debate is good.
√
Make
sure to have hand-outs available for those interested in learning
more. The Department of Education has free publications that can be
ordered in advance. (See Resources page for details.)
