BAYOU TECHE REPUBLICAN WOMEN
Bayou Teche Republican Women has been on fire since its charter in 2010. In under three years, this small, motivated club has accomplished a number of impressive feats, including two major fundraisers with more than $20,000 raised each. The club hosted the Louisiana Federation's biennial convention this year, donated more than 2,000 dictionaries to schoolchildren in two parishes, helped fund local, state and national scholarships, and supported CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates), veterans and other important groups financially and physically.
The club started a parish-wide food drive called Dare to Care which raised more than $28,000 for food pantries in Iberia Parish; hosted meetings with state, local and national leaders, including the current and previous NFRW presidents; attended NFRW/LFRW meetings and events; and, partnered with a fledgling group in Texas to help them establish an effective fundraising event and invigorate their club. In addition, two members are now state officers. Small clubs can accomplish big things with work and commitment!
