Last fall, Margaret Flower was elected president of the Minnesota
Federation of Republican Women for 2006-2007. She has been a charter
member of Metro Republican Women since 1982, where she served on
various committees and as vice president, secretary and treasurer.
She has been on the state board for many years and treasurer for the
past four.
Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Margaret attended the University of
Illinois and graduated from the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul,
Minn., with a degree in occupational therapy. Before settling in the
Twin cities area 27 years ago, her family lived in several states
around the country, including Alabama, Wyoming and Colorado.
In Minnesota, Margaret has been actively involved in Republican
politics. She has served in leadership positions at the precinct,
BPOU, and congressional district levels. She also has been involved
in numerous campaigns, from school board to presidential. She has
participated in literature drops, phone banks, fundraisers, socials
and parades. She has been a delegate to the congressional district
conventions, state central and state conventions.
Margaret has filled her life with volunteer service at hospitals,
churches, schools and in countless civic and community
organizations. She is currently a volunteer member of the Community
Advisory Council to Flint Hills Refinery.
Margaret has been married to Terry for 40 years. They have 2 adult
children and 3 grandchildren. She is employed at Regina Medical
Center in Hastings, where she manages the cardiac rehabilitation
program.

The Minnesota Federation is divided into eight regions, each of which have Federation representation. Members sponsor and participate in candidate forums, legislative updates, candidate events and issue discussions. The clubs raise funds and work in Republican campaigns at all levels. Their community service projects include First Lady Laura Bush's Reach Out and Read program and Success On a Hanger, a clothing project that provides gently-used business clothing for women entering the workforce.
