PRESIDENT'S BIOGRAPHY

Lona Ferguson is a native Nebraskan, born and raised in the central part of the state. She attended school and graduated from SEM High School in the small town of Sumner, where she was raised.

Lona continued her college education at UNK. She married her high school sweetheart and was blessed with a beautiful daughter and son. Lona raised her children as a single parent when her husband passed away at a young age in 1986.

Lona has been in management, sales, and financial advisement for almost 30 years. She has served as a leader in her community and within the Republican Party with commitment, care, and passion for the last 10 years. She loves gardening, her pond and fish, and enjoys her cats and puppies.

Lona’s life is centered on her strong belief in God, her children and their mates, granddaughters Taylor and Megan, and her special friend of more than 17 years, Raymond. When she isn’t working at her job or for her Republican family, you can find her on a golf course.

FEDERATION PROFILE

The Nebraska Federation affiliated with the NFRW in 1956. The Hon. Hazel Abel, U.S. senator from Nebraska in 1954, became acquainted with NFRW officers and was encouraged to begin organizing Republican women's clubs in Nebraska. She served as the founding president. 

The main objectives of the Nebraska Federation are to promote an informed public through political education and activity, increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government, foster loyalty to and promote the principles of the Republican Party, and elect Republicans in the state.
