PRESIDENT'S BIOGRAPHY

Cynthia Matson's life statement is: "Take each day at a time, cling onto the faith of your own worth and build on it, no matter how slowly or how little each step. You cannot go backward. Have the courage to go forward well. At the end of each day, praise yourself for that, and then let go ... rest and hope! Never let go of hope."

FEDERATION PROFILE

The South Dakota Federation is comprised of 12 clubs with about 600 members. In addition to holding a biennial convention, members raise funds, work in Republican campaigns at all levels and provide community service across the state. Members have been active for the last four years in the Angel Tree project, through which they purchase gifts for children on reservations who have a parent serving time in prison. In 2005, all nine reservations were covered by members. In the 2004 election, 1,500 new Republican voters were registered on the reservations.
