Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Darlene Vaughan graduated from
Capital University with a degree in music education. She and her
husband are partners on Popo Agie Ranch in the foothills of the Wind
River Mountains outside of Lander.
Darlene served the Fremont County Republican Party as chairman from
2002-2006 and is presently on her second term as state
committeewoman from Fremont County. She also has been active in the
Fremont County RW, serving as president during 2009. She continues
to serve as chair for the women’s Republican political action
committee in her home county.
Wyoming Farm Bureau has played a large role in encouraging Darlene's
“get involved” attitude. She also has served the cattlewomen
organization in numerous offices.
For nearly 40 years, Darlene has been active in many phases of
exhibiting animals. She was a professional dog handler showing many
breeds in American Kennel Club championship competitions and is now
enjoying the equine sport of dressage. As a judge with the Alpaca
and Llama Show Association, she had the opportunity to judge many of
the major llama shows in this country. Internationally, she judged
in Canada and France. She retired from judging in 2006.
“It is an honor to have been elected president of the Wyoming
Federation," Darlene says. "With the great group of members and
officers, we should be a driving force in influencing our future in
Wyoming.”

The Wyoming Federation has 12 clubs throughout the state. Clubs
hold informational meetings, host candidate forums, financially
support Republican women candidates, hold leadership conferences and
promote voter registration. Members donate books to libraries,
sponsor delegates to Girls State and staff educational booths at
state fairs.
The Wyoming Federation takes pride in the fact that since statehood
in 1890, Wyoming women have had the right to vote (the first in the
nation) and have served on juries. From our courthouses to the U.S.
House of Representatives, Wyoming Republican women are serving
responsibly in elective office. Not to be overlooked, Vice President
Dick Cheney is a proud product of Wyoming.
