Military Caregiver Month recognizes those who assist our veterans who can no longer independently accomplish many of their daily tasks. Everyone probably knows a military caregiver.  The month of May is a good time to ask if there are any tasks you can do to give them a little more free time.

Military spouses play an important role by providing strength and stability to their loved ones amidst the everyday challenges of life. For most of us, the separation from family is a shared burden, made easier by the almost universal appreciation of friends and strangers alike. Military families feel a special bond, along with a sense of pride and belonging.

May 8^th is our official Victory in Europe Day or V-E Day. The document signed by Germany for unconditional surrender dictated that at 2301 Central Europe Time, 8 May 1945, all hostilities would end. Because this time meant that it was 9 May in Russia and many of the countries bordering it, that is their official day for celebrating. 

In April 2006, President George W. Bush proclaimed May would be considered Jewish American Heritage Month, after resolutions passed unanimously by both the House of Representatives and the Senate.  Jewish Americans have served in our military from the beginning.  

Children whose military parent died in combat suffer a great deprivation that most youths will never have to experience. The best way to acknowledge those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation is to invest in their children’s future.
