In November 1935, Mrs. Alfred B. Williams, then vice chair of the Republican State Committee, called a luncheon meeting at the Women's Republican Club in Boston. The group discussed the need to educate voters and concluded that this should be the prime function of the organization. When the Massachusetts Federation was formally organized, it represented approximately 25,000 Republican women. Giving women the tools to become sophisticated campaign workers remains a goal to this day.
Members raise funds, sponsor workshops, increase the visibility of the GOP, work to elect Republicans at all levels, educate voters and provide community service through the Barbara Bush Literacy Program.
