PRESIDENT'S BIOGRAPHY

Michele Turner lived in Wisconsin until four years ago when her husband, Chuck, retired. They moved to Nevada in January 2004.

In Wisconsin, Michele was a member of Waukesha County RW from 1998 to 2003. Upon moving to Nevada, she joined Henderson RW and served as the club's treasurer in 2005. In July 2005, she and six other women founded Southern Hills RW, which grew to more than 100 members by year's end. She served as the club's founding president through December 2007.

Michele's political involvement began in 1978 when she worked for the election of President Ronald Reagan. She also campaigned for Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. In Nevada, she has campaigned for Gov. Jim Gibbons, U.S. Reps. Jon Porter and Dean Heller, state Sens. Bob Beers and Warren Hardy, and state Assemblyman Lynn Stewart.

FEDERATION HISTORY

The Nevada Federation affiliated with the NFRW in 1950 and is organized into two districts with 20 clubs. Members host legislative advocacy programs, campaign management schools, and Lincoln Day events. Clubs participate in get-out-the-vote efforts, candidate recruitment, lobbying the state assembly, and Republican state conventions. Members sponsor picnics, barbecues and other events for candidates, as well as engage in community service activities that benefit senior citizens, abused women, the homeless, literacy programs and Habitat for Humanity.
