As parents who decided to send our child to private school from K-12 and committed to the financial sacrifices, it always bothered me that we still paid taxes to the

public school system that we never used.

Having access to that money would have helped a long the way!

To Sheryl and others: Oh, but your did use and get your monies worth from the Public School System. If it helps, think of it as protection money spent to benefit your own children. Uneducated children mature into adults who can be manipulated into committing societal damage and other perverse acts/ideas which will surely impact your children. Best to expend energy and effort ( read: get involved) on improving EDUCATION FOR ALL.

So, as much as we all decry taxes, school taxes are the best insurance you'll ever find or carry for your children's benefit. K.S.

I have been a proponent of School Choice for a very long time but wavered on whether the funding should follow the child. I understood that public schools are needed and must therefore be funded.

Now that the schools have become conspicuously political by teaching CRT and racist ideologies that go against everything I believe in, I think it is even more important that parents be given the option of sending their children to different schools and have become convinced that the funding should follow the child. Furthermore, if half as many children attend the public schools, they should be able to operate on a slimmer budget since fewer teachers and administrators are needed, and trailers and other classrooms that exist outside of the school building should be unnecessary.

If taxpayers are required to fund the public schools, the schools must remain free from political ideology. They have the choice - if they want full funding, they can quit teaching our students their progressive agenda. The choice is theirs.

I believe in School Choice and I believe the funding must follow the child.

If public schools begin losing their funding to private schools or charter schools, this will FINALLY give public schools COMPETITION for dollars. This competition for dollars will mean that public schools will be under real pressure to stop teaching Critical Race Theory. Public School Boards will also have to listen to parents' input and opinions about what subjects they want taught, such as whether America-hating revisionist American history should be taught, and whether explicit sexual and transgender material should be taught to young children in school. Parents will have the right to remove pornographic library books from their children's school libraries, pornographic books that have been approved by the Public School Boards.

Many parents are not aware of that these subjects are being taught to their children, and I believe all public school classrooms should have video cameras installed in them so that parents can see and hear for themselves what is being taught in the classroom. Parents pay for the education of their children with their tax dollars, and they have every RIGHT to know what subjects are being taught and if Marxist indoctrination is taking place.

Being in COMPETITION for students and their dollars will also give public schools much more incentive to perform better academically and to be more fiscally responsible with their finances and spending. Private schools often perform much better academically than public schools, even with a much tighter financial budget than public schools have. Government-run programs have often shown that there is no incentive for excellence when there is NO COMPETITION or incentive to perform better.

The public school Teacher Unions give millions of dollars annually to the Democrat Party and to Democrat politicians, all to make SURE public schools hold a MONOPOLY on education and public school finances and funding. The Teacher Unions and the Democrat Party have been in this incestuous relationship of power and money for decades. Consequently, in many cases, our children in public schools have been total VICTIMS of poor education and liberal indoctrination because of this incestuous power/money relationship. Many parents would love to take their children out of poorly performing public schools, but they do not have a choice because they cannot afford to send their children to better private schools or charter schools.

This situation will only change if Republicans have the majority in Congress and are WILLING TO CHALLENGE both the Teacher Unions and the Democrat Party - and change the MONOPOLY public schools have over school funding in America.
