Who are we to judge ? Does the switch flip at 75? Why not 65? There are some that are younger in their 40s/50s that you could say the same thing, heck even young people. If a doctor has ruled them competent and fit to serve why shouldn't that suffice? Oh, wait it's because we have a Democrat President.... remember the same rule would apply no matter even if Republican or what party they are. Just think you could be 75 or in your late 60s and early 70's .... how would YOU feel if someone is judging you because of your age. Let the voters decide!

Why put an age restriction on the mental competency test? Why not have ALL Politicians running for office take a mental competency test?

I think it is an invasion of privacy. instead, I think there should be a mandatory retirement age at 65-70 years of age. If there is a medical issue, then do what the Military Board Does: Convened a Board, Review evidence, including a medical exam and then make a determination to retire them for medical reasons. No matter what Political Party Affiliation, elderly or sick individuals should be treated respectfully and their medical records should not be made Public unless the individual gives their consent.

I understand what Jan is saying, but why should politicians be treated differently. Having had a parent with Alzheimers, people don't tend to believe that they have a cognitive impairment. If you're talking about the current President., he ihas blurted out things tat could be a problem to National Security. I feel empathy for him, but if someone's decision making seems to be impaired, perhaps they should not be in such an important position. Your federal law Enforcement agencies, like DEA, FBI, etc, I think their retirement age is 20 years from start of services, so if they start at 22 yrs, they're done at 42y.o.

Reading the previous comments it seems as if some people think a mental exam is insulting, unnecessary, and one seems to sound like a democrat, ( on a republican site). I firmly believe all politicians need a mental competency test. Why? because right now we have a few young and old politicians that are showing mental deficiencies. One state now has basically one senator because of one being incapacitated, we have a president that is mentaly deficient and some others that show indications of mental problems. i.e. stories that aren't true.

Every politician should take a mental competency exam and pass it before taking any office position.

I don't think you are asking the right question. You should be asking, "Should there be a mental competency test for politicians." We as a country have fought against any form of discrimination so why would there be discrimination against the elderly? TEST THEM ALL!!!

There’s so much mental health disability in our society stemming from addiction that a lot of politicians younger than 75 could also be affected by that. Psychiatric and cognitive evaluation in general should be applied to all politicians of all ages on an annual basis. People with mental and/or cognitive disabilities should not be used as puppets to be the face of others’ agendas. It is cruel and inhumane to these disabled people who should be simply resting in the care of others, sipping on a cup of tea at a nursing home or a similar setting instead of being made an embarrassment to the nation.

Where are Dr. Jill and Giselle Fetterman? They both pushed their husbands to run for office probably knowing that they should not have run. How can they let their husbands go through that? There was an article about this the other day with a reminder of the marriage vows.

I believe there should be a mental competency for politicians but it should not discriminate by age. It is to bad we can't require voters to educate themselves on the issues and the candidates.

I agreee! There is no age on mental competency so politicians of any age should be required to submit to a test and All politicians should be required to retire at age 65 or after 2 terms!

No, that would be age discrimination.

Also, a politician could always get someone to judge him mentally competent.

I believe that all entering into office whether elected, or appointed need to be vetted thoroughly, and should be able able to pass a test on Our

Constitutional Republic's unalienable rights. Too many reps refer to our Christian based governance of, by and for the people as a democracy.

Under God's laws, in our Republic ALL are equal to pursue life, liberty and happiness. This

[is not] the blessings of a democracy, where the power of the majority rules.

I would like to see the oaths of office sworn on the Holy Bible, and the document posted on our reps webpage. I would like group emails to message all 535 Reps and Senators during a national crisis.

So as far a mental capacity young and old need to understand the beautiful documents of our Forefathers. Our country is in a dire crisis because of the fascist ideologies that have infiltrated into [ our ] government infringing on our rights.

A wide open border and censorship of free speech is not actions of a sane or patriotic President upholding his oath of office.

As a former Psychiatric nurse plus my work with Alzheimer's and dementia patients, we do need some form of competency testing done. The World Wide Psych Evaluation is called the Mini Mental Assessment and is too easy a test. When patients were admitted they knew all answers (from prior admissions). When you can't draw a clock, it's too late.

Every politico running candidate not just presidential seating should undergo an overall health qualifying MD test inclusive of psychological testing - any time there is medical reasoning such as alcoholic & drug usage - present days or past days - the medical health organizational research has shown that alcohol & drug usage have affected the individual's body health & psychological balances - another medically studied area is one of the running candidates having undergone medical surgeries which also affect the body balance, most especially ongoing attendance to heart disease/s & prescribed medications - the age factor is a negative one, the medical issues are critical

I do not agree with your point. I think we have the right to do what you love. So, I want to live free.

Simulation games are a popular video game genre that allows players to engage in a variety of activities and settings. These games are intended to replicate real-life circumstances such as running a company, operating an aircraft, or constructing a metropolis. Simulation games may be quite engaging and provide an excellent opportunity to escape into a virtual environment.

In rural areas with limited transportation infrastructure, school choice programs that require students to travel long distances to access alternative schools may present logistical challenges. This could disproportionately affect families without reliable transportation, potentially reducing their ability to exercise school choice effectively.
