Industry should be responsible for its own operations and that includes safety. The shipping industry is responsible for their own safety not governments. They can hire contractors and should. If governments are to be involved then that industry is subject to governmental regulation. This is not wise.

The US along with European allies and countries sending ships into the Red Sea should protect the seaway. This is essential to keep commerce flowing, especially fuel that we all depend upon. But this is not the responsibility of the US alone.

I agree with the above comments. The U.S. government shouldn’t be responsible for the safety of shipping vessels in the Red Sea unless the vessels are carrying cargo or supplies for our military. The U.S. shouldn’t protect other countries’ shipping vessels, either. If there is a problem protecting the vessels of NATO countries then NATO should be providing measures to protect their members’ shipping vessels.

I agree with the previous remarks. Unless the ships are carrying cargo or supplies for our military, the US government should not be responsible for the safety of shipping vessels in the Red Sea. The United States should not also protect the shipping vessels of other countries. If there is a problem protecting NATO countries' vessels, NATO should take steps to protect their members' shipping vessels.

I agree with Cheryl & Adriana that actions SHOULD be taken by the shipping industry and/or NATO, but...who can count on NATO to take Any moral action anymore?

And, when an industry is terrorized, the victims' government has the

authority to act. Regulations are out of control, & it's incredulous to think the

shipping industry is exempt. The world is a mess but I'm guessing that President

Trump might have a good solution!

Our bases and members of our military have been attacked. It isn't simply about ships moving through the Red Sea. It is imperative that we let the Houthis know that we will not tolerate strikes on our military.
