Barbara Ellerbrook was elected member-at-large of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) Executive Committee by the NFRW Board of Directors on May 14, 2021, and took office immediately. She is the advisor to the NFRW Campaign, Diversity, Election Integrity, and Faith Coalition committees.

Barbara served two terms as president of the Kentucky Federation of Republican Women and was serving as chair of the NFRW Membership Committee at the time of her election to the NFRW Executive Committee.


She holds a degree in organizational developmental psychology and human resource development from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, and a master’s in human relations from the University of Oklahoma. Throughout her working career, she held executive director and director positions with various private not-for-profit organizations. Her work included hospice, children/women domestic violence, corrections, MH/MR, and consulting with various nonprofit groups. She was appointed to the Juvenile Commission in Oklahoma by the governor and served on the Kentucky State Corrections Commission through 2020. 


Barbara has served as a federal grant peer reviewer for several federal grant programs. She also served as a private contractor grant writer and has written grants to various federal programs. For the past eight years, and counting, Barbara has been a volunteer for Lexington SCORE, Inc., providing free consulting services to start-up nonprofit organizations throughout the Commonwealth. She will serve as the chapter chair October 1, 2021-2022. 


Over the past 10 years, Barbara has served on various nonprofit boards of directors. She was appointed by Mayor Gray to serve on the Fayette County Human Rights Commission in 2018, and presently serves as the HRC chairwoman and was recently re-appointed for a second term through 2024. 


Barbara is very active in her church, Disciples of Christ, and serves as the outreach chair and on the cabinet. Barbara and her late husband, Cliff, have three grown children and eight grandchildren.
