Karen Newton was elected 1st vice president of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) Executive Committee at the 43rd Biennial Convention in Orlando, Florida, and took office in January 2026. She is the director of NFRW Region 6, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, and South Carolina. She is the coordinator of the NFRW Biennial Convention Committee and advisor to the NFRW Campaign, Faith Coalition, and Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) committees. She also serves as a member of the NFRW Strategic Planning Committee.

Previously, Karen served on the NFRW Executive Committee as 2nd vice president in 2024-2025. She also served on the NFRW Campaign Committee, first as a member in 2014-2015 and then as co-chair in 2016-2017. As chair of the NFRW Program Committee in 2020-2021, she developed the popular Bite Sized Tools, a 30 minute mini training session for busy members.

As president of the Texas Federation of Republican Women, Karen successfully led her state by increasing membership, mending a broken relationship with the Republican Party of Texas and, with the help of a strong committee, raising over $125,000 at TFRW's biennial convention. In 2019, due in part to the leadership team that supported Karen, she was the first Texan in 10 years to be awarded the NFRW Ronald Reagan Award.

Karen continues her service as a board member with the TFRW Volunteer Engagement Project which has helped register over 200,000 new Republican voters in Texas. During campaign season she is very active with Congressman Chip Roy and local state Representative Steve Allison.

Karen co-managed the Donald J. Trump for President National Call Center in San Antonio during the 2016 presidential election. She is involved in the San Antonio community dedicating her time to church activities and local charities such as San Antonio Musical and Gardenia Club and the Military Civilian Club.

Karen and husband Joe have been married for over 35 years and enjoy traveling and spending time at their home in Galveston with their ever growing family.
