Karen Newton was elected member-at-large of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) Executive Committee at the 41st Biennial Convention in Orlando and took office in January 2022. She is the director of NFRW Region 3, which includes Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming. She also is the advisor to the NFRW Membership and Youth Outreach committees.
Previously, Karen served as chair of the NFRW Program Committee.
Karen is dedicated to keeping Texas Red by fully immersing herself in Texas grassroots efforts. She served as president of the Texas Federation of Republican Women and received the NFRW 2019 Ronald Reagan Leadership Award in recognition of her distinguished leadership and service. Karen also served the Texas Federation as vice president of finance. She is the founder and past president of Alamo Heights Republican Women.
Karen continues her service as a board member with the Volunteer Engagement Project which helped register over 200,000 new Republican voters in Texas. She served as chair for the Women for Congressman Chip Roy campaign.
Karen was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to the Texas Radiation Advisory Board in April 2016 and co-Managed the Donald J. Trump for President National Call Center in San Antonio during the 2016 presidential election.
Karen and husband Joe have been married for over 30 years and enjoy traveling and spending time at their home in Galveston with their children and grandson.
