2020 Election Winners

In what is called the "Year of the Republican Woman," Cynthia Lummis is the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Wyoming. In the U.S. House, a historic 18 non-incumbent Republican women are elected, including nine who beat Democrat incumbents, and every incubment Republican woman is reelected. Young Kim and Michelle Steel of California are the first Korean-American women elected to Congress, while Stephanie Bice of Oklahoma is the first Iranian-American and Yvette Herrell of New Mexico is the first Cherokee woman. During the 117th Congress, a record 29 Republican women will serve in the U.S. House (31 if the two non-voting Republican women delegates from American Samoa and Puerto Rico are included), and a record total of 37 Republican women will serve in both chambers.
