Club Pledges Two-Year Commitment to Local Adopt-a-Road Program

Every month Harford County Republican Women of Maryland takes part in a countywide beautification program for parks and open spaces in Bel Air.

HCRW has taken an active role in the care and maintenance of our community. We have been assigned a particular road that we are responsible to keep clean from all trash and debris, including streams and recyclables. As a token of appreciation for this act of volunteerism, the county has placed a sign on both ends of the assigned road with our club name for recognition. This program requires a two-year commitment for our service and can be renewed at the end of each term.

Each month we have done our clean up, we like to have a group picture taken.  It just so happens that someone is walking their dog that early in the morning that can take the picture. As a fun gesture, we offer to have their dog be part of the picture with the clean up crew.  This gives us an opportunity to talk about why we are out there and to talk about our club. It is satisfying to know that we are doing our part to keep Harford County green and streams healthy.
