Club Achieves Victory With 'One Hundred and Won' Book Drive

The Republican Women of Kerr County (TX) recently concluded their third book drive, "One Hundred and Won". A victory for all involved, over 101 books were donated by club members and local citizens, which in turn were donated to local public elementary schools and an area public high school.

A play on words, the "One Hundred and Won" book drive seeks to collect one hundred one books to donate to local schools and organizations. The recipients of this year's drive were Ingram Elementary School, Ingram Tom Moore High School, and Hunt Elementary. Republican Women of Kerr County (RWKC) President Crystal Smith, Literacy and Education Committee Chair Teri Schreiner, Laurinda Boyd, and Patti Tatum made the presentations of the books to students at the campuses, highlighting the group's ongoing efforts to promote reading and character development among young people.

The selected books include classic and historical titles that emphasize ethics, moral strength and character-building themes, additionally new books authored by elected officials and national candidates. Some books were donated were one listed on the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project Recommended Book List.

Ingram Elementary School Principal Kali Brandt highlights the value of RWKC’s contributions. “The books donated by RWKC are truly a gift to our students, not just for their minds but for their hearts,” Brandt said. “Having these strong, uplifting stories available on our shelves is wonderful."

“Our goal is to instill a lifelong love of reading in students by sharing books that not only entertain but also teach,” Smith said. “We believe that by engaging young minds with meaningful stories, we can help shape thoughtful, responsible future leaders.”
