Club Hosts Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears

On August 22, Hanover Republican Women's Club hosted our Annual Summer Social featuring Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears. The event was held at the beautiful Shalom House Retreat Center, owned by club member Gayle Stoneman and her husband Supervisor Jeff Stoneman.

A few days before the event, we were contacted by Lieutenant Colonel Allen West's assistant inquiring if he could come. What a pleasant surprise. He arrived before the Lieutenant Governor as she was having one of her busiest days on the campaign trail. Lt. Col. West gave a spirited speech complete with history lessons, his personal success story and endorsement of Lt. Gov. Sears as governor.

Our Lieutenant Governor arrived fired up and spoke to us about how she plans to keep Virginia safe, create jobs, and protect our girls in the school system by keeping boys out of their private spaces. Out of order, but perfectly in order ... we had our National Anthem played as a violin duet by U.S. Marine Corps Officer Johnny Pierre Jr. and his sister Julianna Pierre. We delayed the National Anthem so they could play before the Lieutenant Governor.

It was a beautiful day of good weather, good food, and good fellowship.
