Club Features Sheriff Candidates, Honors Charlie Kirk at October Luncheon

Shelby County Republican Women's Club hosted an informative October meeting featuring 2026 Republican Shelby County Sheriff candidates, Brad Less and Marco Yzaguirre, who were monitored by member Bridgette Jordan.

We also honored Charlie Kirk by encouraging attendees to wear the color red. Wearing red symbolizes unity, strength and our shared values as Republicans. We remembered his legacy and celebrated Charlie by honorong him on his birthday.

Additionally, we celebrated the 90th birthday of member Phyllis Vincent.

I understand the club's motivation for combining politics with personal remembrance — but I also wonder: does honoring an individual with red undermine the neutrality of the discussion about the Sheriff candidate? Perhaps if the club were more transparent about its purpose, it would be easier for readers to understand.
