Club Commemorates President's Day with Help of Local Students
Dickinson County Republican Women held a fun event to commemorate President's Day this year!
On Monday, February 16, the group came together, decked out our meeting hall in patriotic decorations, and invited the entire community to come celebrate. The event started off with a prayer and the pledge and then a wonderful spread of hors d'œuvres, refreshments and socialization.
While everyone enjoyed their treats, they participated in a mixer-style game where they were given either a card with a president's image and name or a president's bio, and they had to find their match. They also had the opportunity to visit a fun, patriotic photo booth operated by a local student.
For our main event, local school children came to present "acts" about our past presidents and sing patriotic songs. Some children gave informative speeches about a president or first lady. Others dressed up like their president, and after speaking about their life, asked the audience to guess who they were. Other students gave parts of presidential speeches and sang songs.
It was an amazing event shared by our community to highlight patriotism, honor President's Day, and remember those who helped shape our great nation.
