Iowa Federation of Republican Women bestowed upon U.S. Senator Joni Ernst its highest honor, the Yellow Rose Award, at the Spring Conference, held April 16-17, in Cedar Rapids. Congratulations and thank you, Senator, for serving us with honor and bravery. With love and respect from your Federation sisters.

RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING SENATOR ERNST

Whereas Joni Ernst was elected the first woman to serve in federal elected office from the State of Iowa;

Whereas Joni Ernst became the first female combat veteran elected to serve in the United States Senate;

Whereas Joni Ernst served two terms in the U.S. Senate;

Whereas Joni Ernst formerly served as a Montgomery County Auditor and Iowa State Senator;

Whereas Joni Ernst is a long-time member of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women;

Whereas Joni Ernst is a role model for girls and women of all ages who aspire to the highest levels of excellence in all walks of life;

Whereas Joni Ernst is a proud American and Iowan, and a true friend;

Whereas, the Yellow Rose is the historic symbol of women’s suffrage;

Now therefore, we, the members of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women, bestow upon The Honorable Joni Ernst, the IowaFRW Yellow Rose Award, our highest honor, and a symbol of women’s rights, equality, and excellence.

This award carries strong symbolic significance, but its lasting value depends on the actual impact of the honorees. The big question is how to transform these role models into sustainable drivers of development for the next generation.
