Club Hosts Gubernatorial Forum

On May 18, 2026, the East Cooper Republican Women's Club (ECRW) welcomed members and guests for a Republican gubernatorial candidate forum featuring South Carolina's leading candidates for Governor.

Although Lt. Governor Pamela Evette and Congresswoman Nancy Mace were unable to attend due to last-minute scheduling conflicts, Congressman Ralph Norman and Attorney General Alan Wilson participated in an engaging discussion outlining their vision for the future of South Carolina.

The forum was moderated by longtime Republican strategist Alex Stroman, who has served at every Republican National Convention since 2008 and was a member of President Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. Each candidate delivered opening remarks, responded to questions submitted by ECRW members, and concluded with closing statements highlighting why they should earn voters' support in the Republican primary.

Following the forum, attendees participated in a straw poll for several statewide races, including Governor, Attorney General, U.S. Congress, and Commissioner of Agriculture. The results were shared with all members and guests.

The afternoon concluded with a drawing in which four ECRW members each received a ticket to the Charleston County Republican Party's Reagan Gala, the organization's premier annual fundraising event supporting Republican candidates.

The forum was a tremendous success, providing members with an informative, respectful opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and reinforcing ECRW's commitment to educating voters and encouraging informed civic engagement.
