Club Hosts "Spirit of '76" Patriotic Celebration

On July 21, Palmetto House Republican Women of Spartanburg County hosted the annual patriotic celebration with 72 members and guests in attendance. We celebrated the 250th Anniversary of our country with entertainment, a speaker, a delicious barbecue buffet, and a beautifully decorated 250 cake.

The evening opened with a welcome by the club president. She reminded everyone that we honor the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who came before us, and that we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our great country. She encouraged each one to reflect on our shared heritage and look ahead with hope and purpose.

Guests enjoyed the National Anthem and other patriotic songs sung by talented Bethany Ghent. There was a surprise visit from George Washington, John Adams, and Betsy Ross. Our keynote speaker, Spenser Smith, pointed out how blessed we are as Americans to have had the Founding Fathers to write our Constitution. The program ended with a signing of "America the Beautiful," a salute to the branches of the military, and a beautiful rendition of "God Bless the USA."

The meeting concluded with announcements and a closing prayer. Everyone left with a 250 flag to commemorate their attendance.
