On April 8, Cumberland County Republican Women's Club of Fayetteville, NC, hosted its first candidate forum for North Carolina Congressional District 9.
This election was originally won by the Rev. Mark Harris, and it was overturned due to discrepancies with votes in several local counties. Ten candidates came forward to run for this very crucial position. Eight of the ten candidates were present for a wonderful evening.
A local restaurant opened up and candidates were invited to attend a moderated question and answer forum. The event was moderated by former Mayor Nat Robertson, and was live-streamed on Facebook. Great candidates, great food and a great time was had by all.
This seat is being pursued by Democrat Dan McCready. Primary will be held on May 14. If no candidate receives 30% of the vote, it will go to a runoff in September.
