Women On the Move

Little Free Library is a non‐profit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges worldwide. The Chapin Memorial Library Little Free Library project started in 2019 with four library boxes constructed as an Eagle Scout project by Cody King. The little libraries allow Chapin Memorial Library to increase public access to books throughout the city, promoting a community of readers and improving literacy for all ages.

The Little Free Library project expanded in collaboration with the Junior League of the Grand Strand in 2022 by adding a library box at McLeod Park. All five Chapin Memorial Little Free Libraries are filled and maintained by library volunteers, staff, and the community. The locations are Mary C. Canty Recreation Center, Savannah’s Playground, Myrtle’s Market and Pepper Geddings Recreation Center McLeod Park. Horry County Republican Women’s Club took this project on as a Literacy Project. Our club donated 20 books for this project. We read all the books that were donated prior to giving them. This project will be continued through the 2023‐2024 year.

Nick Adams was our speaker on August 21 at Carolina Seafood and Steak Restaurant. Born and raised in Australia, Adams is now a naturalized American citizen. Three of Nick’s best-selling books were endorsed by President Trump during his time in office, leading many media outlets to declare him "the President’s favorite author." His work in public schools has seen him recognized by governors across the country, and he has been awarded honorary status in Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Arkansas, South Carolina, Missouri, Arizona and Tennessee.

In the United States, Adams has spoken at conventions, corporate meetings, military bases, universities, high schools and churches, in 42 states. FLAG (www.flagusa.org) has produced the world’s first kid-friendly Constitution, Declaration of Independence and Federalist Papers, as launched on Fox News. The FLAG Board contains luminaries such as Col. Allen West, Bill O’Reilly, Dennis Prager, Pete Hegseth, Steve Cortes, and many others.
