Club Honors Volunteer Fire Departments
Republican Women of the Lumber River, North Carolina, chose caring for Robeson County's Volunteer Fire Departments as our Caring for America Project. We served coffee and desserts to the firemen/women. Our club also gave each fire department a donation.
We chose three departments, Red Springs Fire Department, Rowland Rural Fire Department, and Burnt Swamp Philadelphus Vol. Fire Department. The Native American RNC Community Center also partnered with us in honoring our heroes by providing gift bags and food.
We learned that they truly are the unsung heroes of our community. Our efforts were well received because no one had ever honored them in this way. RWLR enjoyed giving back to those who have given so much.
