8 Seniors from the High Schools in Madera County Receive Scholarships!

The members of the Madera Republican Women Federated club held their annual Scholarship Celebration Dinner on June 22, 2017 at the Madera Municipal Golf Course. The evening's program included Gina Wallace, CSUF Professor, who gave a talk to the scholars on, "Advice For New College Students From A Professor." The six MRWF Scholarship recipients who attended the dinner with their families and friends, were recognized with achievement certificates from CA state Senator Anthony Cannella, represented by former Madera County Sheriff John Anderson, and CA Assemblyman Frank Bigelow. Also, in attendance at the dinner were Madera County Supervisor, Tom Wheeler, Madera City Council member, Derek Robinson, MUSD Board Member, Ed McIntyre and his wife, Gail, and GVUSD trustee, Mona Diaz. Terri De La Guerra is the MRWF Scholarship Chair.

The MRWF awarded eight $500.00 scholarships to college-bound Madera County high school seniors. The students in attendance were interviewed, impressing the audience with their poise and achievements. Recipients, pictured are from left are: Maria Molina, Madera South High School; Jericolouis Garcellano, Yosemite High School; Emily O'Brion, Liberty High School; Lisette Maciel-Hernandez, Madera High School; Andrew Rezendes, Minarets High School; Belen Wells, Dollars for Scholars. Recipients who were unable to attend the dinner and are not pictured are: Esha Veer, Chowchilla High School; Jazmin Lopez, Sherman Thomas Charter High School.
