Club's July Meeting Spotlights Achievements of Young Conservatives
In July, High Noon Republican Women hosted a “Focus on the Future” meeting. We invited local youth-focused conservative groups to share their organizations, how they are making a difference, and how we can help.
Emma Danahy, High School Field Director for Turning Pont USA, shared how they are growing, with more High School (Club America) chapters being formed, and with more students joining. She said there is a growing interest in prayer and engagement that is driving the growth. There are some challenges to forming new clubs, especially in the public schools, and she encouraged our members to provide support on the Club America social media channels.
Ethan Schmidt, President of the Kansas City Young Republicans, shared their goals to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of Republican leaders. The club hosts some public events, and he encouraged our members to attend their upcoming forum on the August Ballot Amendments. Our club presented Ethan with a check to help with club expenses.
Ryan Compton spoke about his involvement in Teen Pact, whose motto is “Changing lives to change the world.” Ryan shared how he has grown as a leader and public speaker through attending a four-day camp this summer where he learned about state government from a Christian worldview. Students ran for office, participated in a mock legislature, and learned about how they can be effective leaders. He encouraged our members to invite any young people to join Teen Pact.
High Noon also recognized our current and former Breckenridge Scholars. Breckenridge Scholars is a Missouri FRW intiative where club-sponsored young women are introduced to state government through a full day of activities at the State Capitol, and are recognized on the House floor for their accomplishments. Our 2025 scholar shared that her participation had helped her secure an internship in college, and spurred her interest in getting more involved politically. We presented out 2026 Scholar with a $250 scholarship, raised through our club’s fundraising efforts, and she shared her aspirations for continuing her role as president of her high school’s Club America chapter, and her interest in continuing her studies in law and politics.
Congressman Mark Alford was unable to attend, but he sent members of his staff, who produced a video from our meeting, the he shared on both his X page and his Facebook page. We are grateful to Congressman Alford and his team for showcasing and helping to promote our club!
